Spin Sisters

Back in April, my mom and I booked a trip to visit a friend in Holland. While making our travel plans, we learned that the most common mode of transportation in Holland is biking. Both my mom and I have biked recreationally, but the thought of straight biking over the course of our ten day vacation left us feeling a little unprepared. I knew LiveWell4Life offered various spin classes, but mom and I were hesitant to sign up, as we thought these classes were for intermediate and experienced athletes. We feared our lack of experience and “know how” would hinder our success. Despite believing this, I decided to talk to one of the spin instructors at LiveWell4Life, and she convinced me that my mom and I could complete the class at our current experience level and have a great time doing so! Within the next couple of weeks, mom and I had signed up and were attending our first spin class.

Upon arriving at our first class, we were greeted by the instructor and given a detailed introduction to how the class would work, as well as how to adjust and feel comfortable on our bikes. It was nice to be able to do something like this with my mom. We support each other and we push each other to go to spin class each and every week. The photo below was taken right after our first spin class together. We were so happy we had decided to try something new, proving that we could accomplish anything we set our minds to!

Not only has spin given us the chance to spend time together amidst our busy schedules, but the class has proven to be an amazing way to stay active, helping us keep up with the demands of our daily lives. This became particularly evident when we made it to Holland, as we didn’t have to slow down or stop during our daily travels. Spin class had given us the ability to keep up with the locals, which in itself was very rewarding. By taking a chance and enrolling in a class at LiveWell, I have learned lessons that extend beyond personal fitness. Spin has taught me never to believe there is a task to big or too scary to accomplish. I have learned never to doubt myself and that the most rewarding feelings in life come from trying something new! I encourage each and every one of you to do what I did. Get out there and try something new, tackle that big goal you have set for yourself, or simply set one. It might be the best decision you’ve made this year!
